Healthy and Holistic Tips to increase energy and focus!
Summer is almost over, we may be back to work and still feel like we already could use some extra energy and focus.
Here are a few tips to help you get into the energy and focus you need in order to get back to business!
- Drink more water. Most of us are chronically dehydrated due to the sugary or caffeinated drinks we consume and the lack of pure water in our daily diet. However water is one of the most essential energy sources for us, as our whole bodies functionality is directly affected by our water intake. Next time you’re reaching for sugar or caffeine to gain energy, drink a big glass of water and see how you feel after 10 min!
- Avoid caffeine. Caffeine dehydrates our bodies, affects our blood sugar and makes us more tired, stressed and moody. When caffeine stimulates our bodies excretion of stress hormones, it can increase our levels of anxiety, irritability and decrease our immunity and keep our body from having healthy responses to normal day to day stress we may experience. Increased stress directly leads to decreased joy, energy and motivation.
- Eat root vegetables such as burdock, carrots, parsnips, anything that grows downwards, as they will make you more grounded energetically and help you focus.
- Eat more leafy greens such as Kale, Collard greens and broccoli as it is energetically uplifting and filled with micro-nutrients, beneficial bacteria, blood cleansing qualities and sun’s vital energy!
- Evaluate how much processed foods you eat and focus on buying more and more fresh produce. Avoid any packaging and ready made meals. Get your hands dirty and enjoy being in touch with nature through the nutritious gifts it has to offer!
- Look at your life style habits and relationships. What is energizing, what drains you? Choose to spend more time with people you are inspired by, practice setting healthy boundaries if necessary and take steps that challenge you to grow out of your comfort zone! Positive fear and challenge gives energy and lifts you up!
- Play~ Don’t take life or yourself too seriously. Make space and time to enjoy, laugh and play! Set a side “play dates” for yourself if you tend to “leave your own needs last”. Take a break, put on some music and dance, sing, do something new and fun, call a friend for a positive encouraging conversation and get in touch with your spirituality in a way that inspires and captivates you.
- Set tangible goals for yourself to get focused and break the steps down to very doable daily tasks. Do not overwhelm yourself with the amounts or pace you set. Envision how you will feel once your goal is achieved and enjoy every step of getting there!
Any moment you find yourself thinking negatively, turn it around, choose to take a step towards joy, remind yourself of the things you are thankful for today and remember that life is a gift and you truly are too blessed to be stressed.
